FCC Backs Off Net Filtering Plan

FCC Chairman Kevin Martin has said that he will not pursue a government-mandated content filter as part of a proposal for a nationwide free wireless broadband network. EPIC had opposed the provision and said that it would create a dangerous precedent that would encourage governments to limit access to unpopular or controversial speech.
