EPIC Joins Coalition Seeking Audit of TSA Racial Profiling

Over 30 organizations, including EPIC, have asked DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano to undertake an independent audit of the TSA to determine whether TSA airport screeners are engaged racial profiling. According to news reports, TSA agents have subjected Mexican, Dominican, and Sikh travelers to additional screening based solely on race. In EPIC v. DHS, a federal court of appeals in July ordered the TSA to undertake a formal rulemaking, but the agency has yet to solicit comments from the public on its airport screening procedures.
