EPIC Testifies in Support of Oregon Location Data Privacy Legislation
March 21, 2025

EPIC Deputy Director Caitriona Fitzgerald testified yesterday before the Oregon House Committee on Commerce and Consumer Protection in support of HB 3899 (amended).
The key provisions of HB 3899 include a ban on the sale of precise geolocation data and data about minors, strong data minimization rules, and heightened protections for sensitive data.
In her oral remarks, Fitzgerald focused on the harms that stem from the sale of precise geolocation data and encouraged the Committee to ban the sale of such data to match the protections enacted in Maryland last year.
