BenCon 2024: Emerging Legal and Policy Trends in State and Federal AI Governance

EPIC Counsel and Equal Justice Works Fellow Grant Fergusson will be participating in BenCon 2024 hosted by the Beeck Center for Social Impact + Innovation at Georgetown University. He will be speaking on a panelĀ about “Emerging Legal and Policy Trends in State and Federal AI Governance” on Tuesday, September 17th at 11:20am ET.

Panel Description: Deepen your understanding of the federal and state AI policy landscape. Bringing together perspectives from government and civil society, this panel will explore how recent developments in AI policy are shaping public service delivery. Panelists will discuss the benefits and risks of AI in public service delivery; emerging trends across federal and state efforts to regulate AI; and, recommendations for incorporating responsible AI practices into the delivery of public services. Through this cross-sector conversation, participants will have the opportunity to learn about how government agencies are implementing AI governance measures and how they can take action to advance responsible AI.

Grant will be joined by Quinn Anex-Ries (moderator), Senior Policy Analyst at the Center for Democracy & Technology; Nikki Zeichner, Transformation Officer at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; and Harrison MacRae, Director of Emerging Technology for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
