Politico Pro: Civil rights groups urge FTC to set rules on AI

More than 40 civil rights groups are calling on the FTC to set rules on artificial intelligence, raising concerns that proposed regulations don’t address potential discrimination and bias with the technology.

In a letter sent to the FTC Wednesday, organizations including the American Civil Liberties Union, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, Upturn and the Electronic Privacy Information Center called on the agency to issue rules specifically addressing algorithmic discrimination in its rulemaking process on commercial surveillance.
