Practicing Law Institute: Artificial Intelligence Law 2024

EPIC Senior Counsel and head of EPIC’s AI and Human Rights Project Ben Winters will be participating in Practicing Law Institute’s “Artificial Intelligence Law 2024.” Ben will be speaking in Guarding Privacy: Using Personal Data in AI Models on January 26th at 3:00pm alongside Maneesha Mithal (Panel Leader), Monique N. Bhargava, and Erica M. Irvin.

Scope: The simultaneous expansion of data considered to be personal information with new laws governing the use of AI systems makes compliance increasingly challenging. This session will explore how to develop and monitor AI systems for compliance with data privacy issues. At the end of this session, participants will understand: AI issues under the GDPR, CCPA, and similar privacy laws, and the freedom from AI decisions; How to develop and monitor AI systems for compliance with data privacy laws; and Remedies for violations, including model disgorgement.
