Kara Williams
EPIC Counsel
Kara Williams is an EPIC Counsel focusing on state privacy and AI policy. She has testified before numerous state legislatures on issues including privacy, chatbots, surveillance pricing, algorithmic discrimination, and data brokers.
Kara first started at EPIC as a summer clerk in 2022, then returned as a Law Fellow after graduating law school in 2023. She previously interned at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, served as a student affiliate at IU’s Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research, and interned for Chief Justice Loretta H. Rush of the Indiana Supreme Court and Magistrate Judge Mark J. Dinsmore of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.
Kara graduated magna cum laude from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law with a graduate certificate in Information Privacy Law and Policy. She holds B.A.s in journalism and in sociology from Indiana University. She is a member of the District of Columbia Bar.
