WHO WE ARE: The Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) is a D.C.-based public interest research center established in 1994 to focus public attention on emerging privacy and civil liberties issues. EPIC is fully independent and does not accept corporate or government sponsorships. 

WHAT WE DO: EPIC pursues a wide range of program activities including public education, litigation, and advocacy. Our staff and attorneys: 

  • work closely with a distinguished advisory board; 
  • engage in robust policy research; 
  • routinely file amicus briefs in state and federal courts; 
  • pursue open government cases; 
  • organize conferences and coalitions with other NGOs;   
  • coordinate advocacy and public education efforts; 
  • and testify before Congress and other legislatures about privacy in the digital age.
