Qualified Charitable Distributions
A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a direct transfer of funds from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to a qualified charitable organization.
A QCD gift may be excluded from your taxable income up to $100,000 per year (with some exceptions). A QCD can also qualify towards the amount of money you must withdraw from a tax-deferred retirement account once you turn 72, also known as your required minimum distribution (RMD).
To be eligible for a QCD, you must be 70 ½ or older when the distribution is transferred, and you must have an eligible IRA.
To make a gift, first contact your IRA custodian, who will need to process the QCD and send it directly to EPIC. And then send an email to [email protected] to inform us of your gift so that we can ensure that the transfer went through and so we acknowledge your gift.
Please include EPIC’s legal name, address, and federal tax ID:
Legal Name: Electronic Privacy Information Center
Legal Address: 1519 New Hampshire Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20036
Federal Tax ID: 52-2225921
