2024 Annual Report

This year was pivotal year for EPIC and this 2024 annual report features some of our notable efforts. 2024 marked EPIC’s 30th anniversary and we reflected on three decades spent on the front lines fighting to protect privacy and democratic values. The report highlights how EPIC worked tirelessly to fight back against surveillance creep by building new guardrails to protect our data, to empower individuals in our digital economy, and to ensure that AI systems and new technologies do not infringe on individual rights. We filed new lawsuits and complaints against companies using black box AI systems, we played a key role in the passage of strong state privacy bills, we pushed back against the expansion of facial recognition in borders and cities, as well as launched a new Platform Accountability & Governance Project to hold digital platforms accountable.
