Trust, Privacy and Democratic Data: Lessons From the Breaking Point

At 5 p.m. on April 15 at the Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy, Spring 2026 Tech & Public Policy Visiting Fellow Sydney Saubestre will moderate Trust, Privacy and Democratic Data: Lessons from the Breaking Point, a panel conversation on what it takes to build accountability back into data systems from the ground up.

In examining the critical gap between the privacy protections people expect in government data systems and what actually exists, this panel will discuss the risks of data-driven governance erosion and how policy-driven governance can strengthen public trust, featuring remarks from: 

  • Amy O’Hara, research professor, Massive Data Institute 
  • Meeta Anand, senior director, Census and Data Equity at the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights
  • Prem Trivedi, director, New America’s Open Technology Institute 
  • John Davisson, deputy director and director of enforcement, Electronic Privacy Information Center
