EPIC joins 340+ groups urging Congress to vote NO on additional ICE, CBP funds
April 28, 2026
On Tuesday, EPIC joined a group of more than 340 organizations led by the National Immigration Law Center to call on Congress to vote no on the upcoming budget resolution.
The proposed congressional budget for fiscal year 2026 would authorize up to $140 billion in new mandatory funds for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection, pouring more money into the already-flush agencies tasked with carrying out mass surveillance, tearing families apart and detaining immigrants in inhumane conditions.
“Across the country, working families cannot afford to pay their bills while facing ever-increasing prices at the gas pump, the doctor’s office, and grocery stores,” the NILC-led letter to Congress reads. “Despite these widespread anxieties over basic affordability, Senate and House leadership are forcing a partisan vote on billions more for immigration enforcement and deportation.”
EPIC strenuously opposes the taxpayer-funded expansion of the U.S. surveillance state, as well as any granting of funds without accountability and oversight measures—particularly to agencies whose conduct has been repeatedly and blatantly illegal.
We’re proud to stand with more than 190 national and 150 state and local organizations in urging Congress to vote no on this resolution.
