Press Democrat: North Bay firms urge Newsom to sign website privacy lawsuit reform bill

“Privacy, consumer, labor and civil-rights groups have opposed SB 690, arguing that removing private lawsuits over certain online tracking practices could weaken enforcement of California privacy protections. An Aug. 28 Senate analysis listed 54 opponents, including the Consumer Federation of California, Electronic Privacy Information Center, National Consumer Law Center, Consumer Attorneys of California, Electronic Frontier Foundation, Consumer Reports and ACLU California Action.”
