IAPP: ICCL, EPIC call on global brands to end consent spam, delete data

In a letter to the leaders of P&G, Unilever, AT&T, Bank of America, Ford, GM, IBM and Mastercard, the Irish Council for Civil Liberties and Electronic Privacy Information Center called on the companies to end consent spam and delete personal data collected through consent popups within 14 days. Their letter follows the Belgian Data Protection Authority’s ruling that IAB Europe’s Transparency and Consent Framework does not comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the group urged the companies to “take immediate steps” to delete data collected or processed through the framework.
