Abigail Kunkler
EPIC Law Fellow
Abigail Kunkler is an EPIC Law Fellow focusing on surveillance oversight as part of EPIC’s Surveillance Oversight and AI & Human Rights programs. She graduated from Georgetown University Law Center, where she worked as a student attorney in the Communications and Technology Law Clinic and a research assistant to Professor Julie Cohen. While in law school, Abigail served as a Senior Articles Editor for the Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics, interned at the appellate division of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, and worked as a data privacy and litigation summer associate at a law firm.
During her time at EPIC, Abigail has published significant analyses and reports including Closing the Data Mines, DOJ Wants Sensitive Voter Data but Can’t Be Bothered to Protect It, and Seems a bit DOGE-y: Protecting Federal Worker Rights in an Era of AI-Driven Employment Decisions. She has also been quoted in numerous publications including The Intercept, Newsweek, Slate, CyberScoop, and Computerworld.
Abigail is a first-generation college graduate and holds a B.A. in Psychology and Latin from Knox College. She is also a member of the District of Columbia and U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia bars.
